About Our Behavioral Health Department
Frequently, emotional difficulties accompany a physical illness and may affect the ability to manage everyday life. Long-term mental illness can have devastating effects on individuals and families.
Mercy Medical Group's Behavioral Health Department offers counseling and psychiatric care for medically necessary services covered through patients' medical insurance. The Mental Health Parity Act (A.B. 88) provides for expanded mental health coverage for patients with some serious mental illnesses. Our Behavioral Health Department is a contracted provider for a number of mental health insurances:

Mercy Medical Group counseling and psychiatry services at the Behavioral Health Department provide confidential and high-quality mental health care to individuals, families, adolescents and children. The Geriatric Network is a specialized mental health program that provides mental health care to adults over 60 years of age. Three children's centers offer special expertise in counseling for children and their parents. Mercy Medical Group also offers a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Mercy Medical Group's skilled, objective professionals can provide compassionate and confidential counseling or psychiatric care when needed. The staff will work with you and your Primary Care Physician to ensure that both your emotional and physical health needs are addressed.
You do not need a Primary Care Physician referral to access Mercy Medical Group counseling and psychiatry services. In addition, the Behavioral Health staff will work with you to maximize insurance benefits. Most insurance companies require an authorization for mental health services. Please call the number on the back of your insurance card and request an authorization to see a Mercy Medical Group Behavioral Health Department counselor or psychiatrist.
